Our Story
I didn't set out to build a pillow company.
I set out to sleep through the night without waking up with that burning sensation crawling up my throat at 2am.
For years, acid reflux controlled my nights. I'd fall asleep fine, then wake up an hour later - chest tight, throat burning, completely unable to get back to sleep. I tried everything. Antacids on the nightstand. Elevating the head of my bed with books. Avoiding food after 6pm. Nothing gave me consistent relief.
The one thing that actually helped? Sleeping on my left side.
Doctors recommend it. The research backs it. Left-side sleeping keeps the stomach positioned below the esophagus, which helps stop acid from creeping up. I knew this. The problem was - I couldn't stay there.
Every pillow I tried was the same. Flat. Unsupportive. Not built for how a side sleeper's body actually works. I'd fall asleep on my left side and wake up on my back again — and pay for it every time.
So I Built What Didn't Exist
I'm not an engineer or a sleep scientist. I'm just someone who was exhausted enough to figure it out.
I spent months obsessing over sleep posture, pressure points, and what it actually takes to keep a side sleeper comfortable through the night. I went through prototypes that were too firm, too flat, too bulky. I talked to other side sleepers - people with acid reflux, back pain, hip discomfort, restless nights - and learned I wasn't alone.
Not even close.
Eventually, I landed on something that worked. Not just for me - but for everyone I let try it. The feedback was the same every time: I actually slept through the night.
That's when LayWell became real.
This Is Personal
I'm not a big corporation. I don't have a team of investors pushing me to scale fast and cut corners. LayWell exists because I lived the problem and refused to accept that bad sleep was just something you put up with.
Every pillow we ship carries that same intention - give side sleepers, acid reflux sufferers, and restless nights the solution they've been searching for.
If that's you, you're in the right place.
